Question 1. What does General Eye Exam include?

POMMEDLAB do not wish to replace specialist ophthalmologist in proper eye check. Rather, we provide services for the convenience of our patients so that all if not most testing can be performed at our centre. General Eye Check begins with inspection of eyelids, conjunctiva, pupils, iris, anterior chamber and colour-blindness, visual acuity and light reflex testing. This can be done as an eye check appointment or as part of our General Medical Exam Package. Visual acuity is the ability to see objects at a distance. This can help identify short or  long-sightedness.

Question 2. How is Eye Exam done?

Your eye will be examined by one of our resident doctors using light and ophthalmoscope and standard Eye Charts (Snellens/E- charts).  In some cases eye drops may be used to assist examination.  With snellens chart, you will be asked to identify letters of varying sizes and orientation on the chart from a distance; each eye is tested separately.

Question 3. Is there any pre-test preparation?

No. All you need is a prior appointment.

Sometimes when pupil dilator  eye drop is used, you will generally be given a n eye padding or advised to wear dark glasses-until your pupil regains normal size within 1-2 hours.

The eye check tests take about 5-10minutes.

A specific problem identified for example cataract, pterygium, mebomian cyst, keratitis, conjunctivitis, subconjunctival haemorrhage, retinopathy, or bleeding with be reported.

For snellens chart visual acuity test, your result will be given as a fraction, for example, 6/20 on 20/20 vision chart, which means you were able to identify letter at a distance of 6 fit that a person with normal vision will otherwise easily see at 20 fit.  Legal blindness is defined as  20/200 or worse.
